TICE ECO CAMP 2009

The aims of the TICE Eco Camp are:

To inculcate a sense of Mother Nature’s appreciation in every TICE participant through a series of eco-lifestyle activities throughout the camp. This will serve as a network connecting environmental student leaders from 3 Universities and 5 Polytechnics, to initiate and synergize different ideas on environmental issues affecting us today and to help raise environmental awareness among tertiary students.

 

This year’s TICE eco-camp will be held from 12th June to 14th June 2009. Venues will be NIE campus, Chek Jawa and Sentosa. The theme for this year's camp is " The Reefs, the Sea Stars & the Sotongs" with Marine Conservation being the key topic of interest.

 

80 students are expected to attend. Highlights include talks by Prof Leo Tan, Dr Shawn Lum and Prof Chang Chew Hung and field trips to Chek Jawa to study first hand a local conservation sucess story. There will also be discussion sessions and a project proposal competition with prizes.

The aims of the TICE Eco Camp are:

To inculcate a sense of Mother Nature’s appreciation in every TICE participant through a series of eco-lifestyle activities throughout the camp. This will serve as a network connecting environmental student leaders from 3 Universities and 5 Polytechnics, to initiate and synergize different ideas on environmental issues affecting us today and to help raise environmental awareness among tertiary students.

 

This year’s TICE eco-camp will be held from 24th May to 27th May 2007. Venues will be NTU campus, Singapore Zoo and West Coast Park.

 

Ten students from each institution will be attending the camp making a total of 80 participants. Activities organized include screening of the Academy Award winning movie ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, a behind the scenes trip to the Singapore Zoological Gardens and talks by scientists on nature conservation issues, a photography competition and an environmental themed race.
